[I]n the capable hands of Director/Choreographer Kate Swan and a standout cast at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, it is a surefire winner… Mom and Dad, Lisa Riegel and Brad Wills, are outstanding

Whether it's little Tootie crashing the grownups' party in her nightgown to sing the "Drunk Song"; Mother (a splendid Riegel) assuring her daughters that love will come in "You'll Hear a Bell"; or Lon showing everyone at the ball the latest college craze, "The Banjo" - everyone has a chance to shine, and they're lustrous.

[M]anna from Thespis' heaven came in the form of Metropolitan Playhouse's DODSWORTH. It was, frankly, terrific, the best show I've seen so far this year. Riegel's interpretation ... makes Fran an ultra-feminine, daintily attractive bauble, and her tantrums are less earth-shaking and menacing, more the willful tantrums of the indulged child that she is. The hysteria she displays at the devastating climax of the play is higher-pitched, more querulous than [1936 film actor Ruth] Chatterton's momentous sense of encroaching doom, but no less affecting.

Ron Sanborn and Lisa Riegel are especially charming in the scene in which the Doctor courts Lizaveta in as clumsy a fashion as possible.

Greg Oliver Bodine's elegant Rakitin, and Lisa Riegel's nuanced Lizaveta are delightful comic creations.

Frank Anderson and Lisa Riegel are compelling and believable as Belle and Will, a couple who love each other, but must adjust and transform as Belle breaks away from her lonely, constraining role as a traditional wife and mother. Anderson and Riegel move beyond the script, bringing human complexity to characters that might otherwise fall into stereotype.

Lisa Riegel, whose Belle is wise, thoughtful, vulnerable, and curious—the awakening she undergoes in the play is completely convincing.
